People who open a restaurant's website are often standing on the pavement or sitting on the sofa wondering whether to come. They want to see the menu, the prices and whether you are open now. It is no more complicated than that, but a surprising number of sites make it hard.

The menu should be text, not a PDF

A very common mistake on restaurant sites is the menu as a PDF or a photo of the printed menu. On a phone you have to zoom and drag, and it is often out of date because making a new one is a hassle. Google cannot read a picture either, so when someone searches for "fish soup" and your town, they do not find you.

We set the menu up as ordinary text, with dishes, prices and a short description, split the way you split it yourselves: lunch, dinner, drinks, children. It is easy to read on a phone, and easy for us to change.

If you change the menu with the seasons or every week, send us the new one and we put it up. It is an ordinary change and included in the monthly price.

Opening hours that are right

At Easter and in July too. Wrong opening hours are the fastest way to lose a guest for good.

Allergens

Either marked per dish, or a clear line saying staff can answer. Guests with allergies look for it before they come.

Table booking

If you already use a table booking system, we link to it from a clear button. If you do not, the phone number is enough.

Photos of the food and the room

Real photos. One good shot of a plate you actually serve beats a stock photo every time.

Private dining and groups

If you have a private room or a group menu, it deserves its own page. That is often where the big bookings come from.

Address, map, parking and the nearest stop.

Your Google profile and your website must say the same thing

Many guests see your opening hours on Google before they ever reach the website. If one thing is listed there and something else on your site, the guest does not know what to believe. The Google profile is yours and you edit it yourself. Make it a habit: when you ask us to change the opening hours on the website, change them there the same day.

We do not build online shops or takeaway ordering with payment. If you use a service for that, we link to it.

Can we change the menu ourselves?

You send us the new menu and we put it up. There is no login to remember and no editing tool to learn.

Can guests book a table on the website?

If you use a table booking system, we link to it. Our own booking system is made for appointments, not tables, so for restaurants we would rather recommend a system built for that.

Can you build takeaway ordering?

No, not with payment. If you have a takeaway service, we link to it from a clear button.
